Lisa MerchantThese are some of the most hands-on improv and comedy courses in Toronto — closer to a comedy school than a one-off comedy class. Course terms run on a seasonal schedule and fill up; early-bird pricing is often available. Questions about which course fits, or don't see the next intake? Email admin@socap.ca.
The biggest myth about improv is that you need to be funny, when just being your true self and honest in the moment is always more than enough — and it can take time to get there. For many of our students, whether they're training at acting or not, improv is a journey of self-discovery. And it's a whole lotta' fun.
Whether you're an improviser wondering why you've hit a plateau, an actor who wants to get better at being in the moment, a manager who wants to be a more effective communicator, or you're just interested in human beings, you might find something very useful in these classes.
Think of it as proper improvisation training — part comedy class, part workshop, part the most fun you'll have on a weeknight in Toronto.
