Who this policy covers
This policy explains how SoCap Comedy collects, uses, stores, and discloses personal information when you visit socap.ca, contact us, join our mailing list, or purchase tickets and registrations through Eventbrite. SoCap Comedy operates from 154 Danforth Avenue, 2nd floor, Toronto, Ontario M4K 1N1.
Information we collect
Information you provide. This may include your name, email address, phone number, and anything you include in a contact or signup form. Newsletter signup requires an email address.
Ticket and registration information. Eventbrite processes checkout and payment information. SoCap may receive the order, attendee, and contact information that Eventbrite makes available to organizers so we can administer the event, communicate important updates, and provide support. SoCap does not receive your full payment-card details.
Technical and usage information. Our hosting and site platform may process information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, referrers, session identifiers, and security logs.
How we use information
- Provide the website, events, classes, and customer support.
- Process registrations and administer ticketed events.
- Respond to questions and messages.
- Send newsletters you requested and manage unsubscribes.
- Understand site performance and conversion when you allow optional analytics.
- Prevent abuse, protect the site, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use analytics data for advertising.
Analytics, cookies, and your consent
Google Analytics is optional and does not load unless you select “Allow analytics” in our privacy banner. If allowed, SoCap and Google receive limited usage data about pages, ticket checkout opens or views, and completed Eventbrite orders. These conversion events contain the public Eventbrite event ID, checkout type, and SoCap page path only. We do not send names, email addresses, ticket details, order values, or payment information in these analytics events.
Google advertising storage, Google Signals, ad-user data, and ad personalization are disabled. You can decline without affecting Eventbrite checkout, or change your decision at any time using the “Privacy choices” button on the site.
We store your analytics choice in your browser’s local storage so we can remember it. Essential site, security, and checkout technologies may still operate when optional analytics is declined because they are needed to provide the service you requested.
Eventbrite purchases
Eventbrite provides SoCap’s ticketing and embedded checkout. When you open or complete checkout, Eventbrite collects and processes information under its own privacy policy and terms. Eventbrite may use cookies or similar technologies required for checkout, fraud prevention, payment processing, and its own service operations. Your decision about SoCap’s optional Google Analytics does not prevent Eventbrite from processing the data necessary to complete your purchase.
Service providers and disclosure
We use service providers to operate SoCap’s website and communications. These currently include Ploy for website hosting, forms, and site analytics; Eventbrite for ticketing and registration; Mailchimp for requested newsletter emails; and Google Analytics for optional consent-based measurement.
We disclose information only as needed for those providers to perform services for us, when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate protections. Some providers process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to local laws and lawful access requests.
Retention and safeguards
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing services, maintaining business and transaction records, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and meeting legal or accounting requirements. Retention periods vary by record type and by the settings and requirements of the service provider.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, but we limit collection and access and use reputable providers to reduce risk.
Your choices and privacy rights
- Decline or withdraw optional analytics consent through “Privacy choices.”
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any newsletter.
- Ask for access to or correction of personal information we hold about you.
- Ask questions about our collection, use, disclosure, retention, or safeguards.
- Withdraw consent where applicable, subject to legal or contractual limits.
We may need to verify your identity before completing an access or correction request. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the privacy regulator in your province.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices or legal obligations change. We will post the revised version here and update the effective date. Material changes will be highlighted when appropriate.
