How I Became Canadian

June 30, 2018 @ 8:30 pm

Pay What You Can

Irisistible Productions is proud to present its new one-woman-show How I Became Canadian in Toronto at the Social Capital!

This is the story of Iris, a Frantic Frenchie From France in Chill Canada.

Iris is coming back home. From home. Her flight from Paris has just landed in Toronto. As she’s stopped by the Canadian customs officer who jokingly tests her knowledge of Canada, she remembers her dinner with friends in Paris, just the night before.

Iris is the everywoman who must leave her land of birth for a new extraordinary life. With Iris’ fresh perspective of her love for her new home Canada, we get to remember why Canadians are so unique in this world. It’s a celebration of everything Canadian from a Parisian Woman’s point of view.

The Company started operating with Iris’ previous one-woman-show which was presented in the Hamilton Fringe Festival in 2016. Iris Gardet-Hadengue wrote and performs this new show as well.

The show is directed by the Canadian Comedy Queen Anne Marie Scheffler, who is famous for several one-woman-shows of her own (she has eight, including Not Getting it, Suddenly Mommy, MILF Life Crisis). She tours across Canada and The US, performing to rave reviews and sold out crowds. A Second City alumna, Anne Marie also is the writer and star of her own one hour comedy special on CTV/The Comedy Network. She received the Sold-Out Award at the San Francisco Fringe, the WIFT-T Features First Award (Screenwriting), the NSI totally Television Award, the CTV Fellowship, and she was nominated for the Canadian Comedy Awards twice.
