The Political Comedy Show – Roast Them All

October 24 @ 8:00 pm

$15 tickets available at the door

Comedy Nuggets presents The Political Comedy Show – Roast Them All. The show will roast politicians for the inane things they do. The show will roast politicians in all levels of politics – local, provincial, national, and international.

There will be stand-up and improv. The stand-ups will write all new material with a focus on roasting politicians in one of the level of politics. Improvisors will create a longform set inspired by stories pulled from the headlines.

There will be an improvised portion of the show that will put a satirical spin on current political news stories.

Political news stories will be selected prior to the show and during the show the cast will randomly choose these stories to inspire their improvised scenes.

The October 24th show has a great cast which includes – stand-up from Danish Anwar, Ashley Cooper, Cathy Boyd, and Kyle Bergstresser, as well improv from Kerry Griffin, and Luke Lynndale.

Here is a little about each of the performers in the show.

Award-winning comedian Danish is probably the only Russian-born Indo-Bengali-Canadian standup comic you’ll see this year. His blend of global experiences, politics & nerd culture landed him multiple appearances on TV, radio & comedy festivals around the world, such as OFF-JFL at Just For Laughs Montreal, Magners Comedy Festival in Bangkok, Just For Laughs Toronto & the Winnipeg Comedy Festival.

Ashley decided that, after spending 31 years pretending to be a boring man, she should try her hand at being a funny woman. During that time, she has performed with Las Culturistas and opened for renowned acts like Sasheer Zamata (SNL) and Cameron Esposito (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). She was selected as a Rising Star at the Brantford Comedy Festival and has performed at JFL42, Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival, and the Midwest Queer Comedy Festival (OH). She lives in Toronto with her three cats, because of course she does.

Cathy has headlined the Maine Comedy Festival in September of 2017 and performed at the Portland, Maine Comedy Festival in July, 2018. Cathy was 1 of 5 finalists in the 5th Annual Absolute Comedy Prove You’re a Comic Competition. Cathy was invited to appear at The Best of Absolute Comedy in September, 2018, as part of Toronto’s annual comedy festival, JFL42 and showcased for the 2019 Winnipeg Comedy Festival. Cathy started 2019 off by competing in and finishing in first place in the Comedian of the North Competition held annually in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Kyle’s off the cuff style and playful stage presence earned him a reputation in Winnipeg’s comedy scene as a frequent crowd favourite and a go to act to bring energy to any show. His goofy approach and unique points of view have lead him to spots in The ODDBLOCK Comedy Festival, The Winnipeg Comedy Showcase and Rumors Comedy Club. All prompting a move to Toronto, where he has since been a headliner and host on The Alt Dot Comedy Lounge, Alt Dot Just For Laughs Showcase, Sirius XM and countless shows all over Toronto and southern Ontario.

Kerry has been acting and improvising around Toronto for over 20 years. Besides making stuff up, Kerry is also an accomplished actor having appeared in television shows like Designated Survivor (ABC), The Beaverton (CTV), Murdoch Mysteries (CBC), Max And Shred (YTV), Degrassi: The Next Generation (CBC), Connor Undercover (Family Channel), Covert Affairs (USA), Mayday (Discovery) and Cracked (CBC). Kerry has won 10 Canadian Comedy Awards over the years, twice being named Best Male Improviser.

Luke is a Toronto-based comedian performing stand-up, improv and sketch. He has performed stand-up in Comedy Brawl (2017, 2018), Comedian of the North (2019), the Boston Improv Festival (2018), Nestival Festival (2019, Columbus) Big City Improv Festival (Toronto, 2013, 2017), World’s Biggest Improv Festival (Toronto, 2016, 2017, 2018), and Best of Toronto Sketch (2018).
