The Funniest Show on The Danforth with DUO DAD is THE MOST UNIQUELY ENTERTAINING comedy/variety show ON EARTH. THIS MONTH joining DUO DAD is Angst for the Memories, Honey Bennett, Che Durena, Jennifer Hsiung, and Al Val.
Che came runner up in Sirius XM’S Next Top Comic, he headlined a show at JFL42 and has appeared on JFL All Access on Comedy Central. His comedy touches on his ridiculous life living abroad and his perception of more serious matters like race, relationship and drugs. Always finding the an absurd angle to creat a fresh a hilarious perspective.
“Watching DUO DAD perform is like watching an episode of kids say the darndest things, except it’s two dads.” – Matt Folliott, S&P, Chad Mallett, and current Canadian Comedy Aware Nominee K$S. DUO DAD reminds us about the beautiful communication that can and does exist between father and son. Through their improv, they remind us, too, of what really matters in life’s roaring waterfall of meaningful moments: respect, love, and making a positive difference in the world!
Honey is a prairie-born introvert. She spends most of her day trying really hard to be invisible. Her cut-throat and animated style of comedy surprises even herself sometimes. She has been seen sporadically throughout the city at The Merry Janes of Comedy, Cabbagetown, QAPD Up and Comers 7, and Absolute Comedy. While patiently waiting to be seen more frequently, Honey is spending her time with her 3 dogs. She is currently working on maintaining eye contact in one-on-one conversations with humans.
ANGST FOR THE MEMORIES
Two thirty year-old punks who really GET what the teens are going through. All their shows come with a parental advisory: if you’re a parent, they advise you not to come. Get out of here, mom and dad! Let kids be kids! Punk rock! Fuck you!
Jennifer is a Canadian television presenter and journalist best known for her work at China Central Television’s (CCTV) English-language international network, CGTN (China Global Television Network). The Toronto native first relocated to Beijing in 2006, and joined CCTV as a sports anchor. In the summer of 2008, she covered the country’s first-ever Olympic Games, and enhanced exposure to the Games by being one of the first few to report from many of the city’s newly constructed Olympic venues, such as the iconic Bird’s Nest Stadium and The Watercube.
Al is a comedian, actor, writer and musician based out of Toronto. Starting his comedy career at the young age of 18, Al has since contributed his talents to program both local and national, from London Rogers TV to OutTV, MTV, and YTV. Al has built a respectable following through his unique brand of standup comedy and currently can be seen headlining shows all across North America; however, besides that he is no stranger to the improv and sketch scene, having performed with improv troupe “Starwipe” for 8 years and having graduated from Second City’s Conservative Program. Al is also the co-writer/producer/lead in the webseries “My Roommate and Friend” and can be seen as one half of the improv rock n’ roll duo “OverDude”. Between an always evolving, unique brand of comedy and large breadth of talent, Al Val’s stock as a breakthrough entertainer is surely on the rise, to say the least. Also, he looks really cute in a dress.
