Comedy Nuggets presents The Funniest Show on The Danforth which is is THE MOST UNIQUELY ENTERTAINING comedy/variety show ON EARTH.
THIS MONTH’s show includes Jin Lee, DUO DAD, Rachel Manson, Cameron LaPrairie, and Cathy Boyd – hosted by Luke Lynndale. Join us on The Danforth at the Social Capital Theatre’s cozy 2nd floor.
Here is a little about each of the performers in the show.
Luke is a Toronto-based, comedian performing stand-up, improv and sketch. He has performed stand-up in Comedy Brawl (2017, 2018), Comedian of the North (2019), the Boston Improv Festival (2018), Big City Improv Festival (2013, 2017), World’s Biggest Improv Festival (2016, 2017, 2018), and Best of Toronto Sketch (2018). He is founding member of DUO DAD (2013-present).
Jin is a new queer Asian comedian who is a proud member of the Queer and Present Danger Collective. She was featured in QAPD’s Up+Comers 10, a showcase for queer rising talent. She has performed for Yas Kween, New Normal Comedy, Working Women, and the Merry Janes of Comedy. When she’s not doing stand-up comedy, Jin goes to the gym three times a week… or at least she pretends to.
Cameron has performed stand-up and sketch comedy at festivals in Montreal, New York, Toronto and more. He was a writer and performer with “The Second City House Company” for two years. Cameron was the winner of the 2016 Tim Sims Award, and his sketch troupe Live Dudes was nominated for Just For Laugh’s ‘Best English Comedy’ at the Montreal Fringe Festival.
“Watching DUO DAD perform is like watching an episode of kids say the darndest things, except it’s two dads.” – Matt Folliott, S&P, Chad Mallett, and current Canadian Comedy Aware Nominee K$S. DUO DAD reminds us about the beautiful communication that can and does exist between father and son. Through their improv, they remind us, too, of what really matters in life’s roaring waterfall of meaningful moments: respect, love, and making a positive difference in the world!
Whisky Kids is Toronto’s hottest new sketch duo, born from the nerdy, social anxious minds of Clare Blackwood and Ryan F. Hughes. After the sold-out success of their first ever project together, Welcome to the Bunker! at the 2017 Toronto Fringe, Clare and Ryan have continued to entertain audiences all across Toronto. Together, they’ve dominated sketch competitions, headlined improv and sketch shows, created two short films, and wrote and performed their first ever sketch revue, Big Dork Energy, to rave reviews at Bad Dog Theatre this October.
A tech salesman by day, and a comedian by night, Sam is like Toronto’s Bruce Wayne except he only makes $35,000 a year before taxes and the villains kick his ass every night.
The stand up bug bit Cathy late in life but some might say that gives her an edge. Cathy has headlined at the Maine Comedy Festival in September of 2017 and performed at the Portland, Maine Comedy Festival in July, 2018. She started 2019 off by competing and finishing in first place in the Comedian of the North Competition held annually in Thunder Bay, Ontario; performed at the 10th annual Women in Comedy Festival in Boston; made her inaugural debut in the Art of Female Comedy Festival in Wichita, Kansas, selected as one of the rising stars to make an appearance at the Brantford Comedy Festival and the Crack Me Up Comedy Festival in Brampton.
